Aoibhneas provides a complete continuum of care within a service of
excellence. A complete continuum of care arrangement provides for the
access of women and children to supports at earliest intervention
through provision of prevention and awareness raising programmes,
community-based support, refuge accommodation, transitional
accommodation, and post refuge/ transitional support.

SUMMARY:
Aoibhneas is seeking a Refuge Coordinator who will be responsible for
coordinating the day-to-day operations of Aoibhneas? Women and
Children?s Refuge. The Refuge Coordinator will be reporting to the
CEO. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining
quality standards of refuge service provision to women and children.
This is a new and exciting role within the organisation. The ideal
candidate will meet the following criteria and have the following
skills:
PERSON REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
* Third Level Qualification at degree level in social science, social
care or related field.
* A minimum of 5 years? relevant work experience working in a
social care setting.
* A minimum of 3 years? experience in supervisory, supporting and
managing staff.
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and
issues affecting women and children experiencing domestic violence.
* Ability to assess the needs and risks to women experiencing
domestic abuse in crisis situations and act appropriately and
professionally, using problem solving processes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills including
recording of data and report writing.
* Excellent organizational skills.

SERVICE COORDINATION
* Oversee and coordinate Refuge service provision, ensuring the needs
of women and children accessing refuge service.
* Oversee the implementation of policies, procedures and practices
of the Refuge in line with Strategic plan of the organisation and best
practice and quality standards for the sector.
* Ensure that all Refuge staff use the organisation
software/database systems as required.
* Ensure that the collection/recording of all data in the Refuge is
in accordance with the relevant Data Protection legislation.
* Lead and manage the Refuge staff team in the delivery and
development of services in accordance with the vision, mission and
strategic direction of the organisation.
STAFF OVERSIGHT AND MANAGEMENT
* Effectively manage staff, ensure adequate staffing levels and
provide support and supervision.
* To assist in the recruitment, induction and retention of Refuge
staff.
* To assess the performance of staff at regular intervals.
* To ensure that the work of the Refuge Team adheres to the
requirements of relevant legislation and internal policy procedures
and oversee their implementation at staff team level.
* Implement the case management system to ensure best practice and
quality audits.
* Ensure that systems are in place and adhered to so that Health and
Safety procedures are understood by staff and clients and are fully
complied with at all times.
* To ensure a positive working environment is maintained in the
refuge with all staff; promote good communication and teamwork
including the facilitation of team meetings and other communication
tools.
ADMINISTRATION
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all case files.
* Liaise with and inform the Direct Line, on a regular basis, of
issues arising from work.
* To ensure the timely submission of written and verbal reports to
the CEO or other Designated Officer including statistical analysis.
OTHER
* Work under the direction and guidance of the CEO or other
Designated Officer to ensure the highest possible level of care is
maintained at all times and perform other duties appropriate to the
office as may be assigned from time to time by the CEO.
* To undertake on call duties one week every four weeks as part of
the on-call team to support the service provision in case of emergency
or critical incident outside of office hours.
* To actively participate in regular management team meetings.
